Care Tips for Your Golf Cart

Whether its to carry passengers from one end of the field to the other or lug around our heavy golf clubs and accessories, golf carts get a lot done for us. Besides being functional in golf grounds, golf carts prove highly beneficial for carrying people across the neighborhood and business outlets. Ensuring peak condition will ensure optimal performance of your vehicle and make your investment last longer.

FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER’S MANUAL

For the replacement of parts and gears, read the instruction manual carefully and use genuine parts only. If you have lost or can’t place the manufacturer’s manual, you can download the file from the brand’s official website.

CHECK THE BATTERIES

It’s advisable to recharge the battery of your golf cart after every use. Always make sure to keep your battery fully charged to avoid running the risk of your golf cart coming to a halt mid-driving.

REFILL THE BATTERY CELLS

Ideally, one should check the water level of the battery cells once every one to three months. It’s better to charge your cart before refilling the cells. Use only distilled water (about ¼ to ½ inch above the plates). With ¼ inch of water, you’ll have to check your batteries more often, but at ½ inch, it’s likely to have more acid accumulation on the top of the batteries.

KEEP THEM CLEAN

Look out for rusting, accumulation of dirt, grime, and grass, and ensure that the battery connections are correctly tightened. You can use an even solution of water mixed with baking soda for effective cleaning. This will also help you make the cleanest connection while charging your golf cart.

CHECK THE BRAKES

Its sufficient to get your golf cart brakes professionally checked once a year. This includes checking, cleaning, and adjusting of the pads, drums, cables and pedal.

LOOK OUT FOR OIL LEAKS

Do not forget to check the rear differential located at the back of your golf cart for dirt and excessive oil. If you spot excess of either of them, you may have an oil leak requiring professional repair to prevent any further damage.

HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY SERVICED

Its true that prevention is better than cure. Delaying your golf cart servicing will not only put more pressure and stress over your cart but also create possibilities for some irreparable damage. Also, make sure to check the tires of your cart and see whether they are even or not.

Safe loading and unloading of golf cart is a must to avoid any surface damage like scratches, peeling of paint, dents, etc.

A good maintenance combined with peak performance of your golf cart will not only keep the rider happy but also help you save money on repairs in the long run.
